About Tyson Foods

The history of Tyson Foods dates back to the 1930s when John W Tyson (John) moved his family to Springdale, Arkansas, in search of new opportunities. He started selling truckloads of chicken raised in Arkansas to several markets in Kansas City, St. Louis, and Chicago. In 1936, he acquired a hatchery to expand his operations. In the 1940s, the company expanded its business to raising chicks and also ground feed for the local chicken farmers. In 1947, John incorporated the company as Tyson Feed and Hatchery, Inc. In the 1950s, his son, Don Tyson (Don), joined the company as a general manager..
